Making nice looking collage

Aniket from India, using Photoshop 6 with Windows 98, writes in with:
[Quote:] This may sound a little stupid! But I'm a newbie in Photoshop and being a non-designer makes the problem worse. My question is, how do I make some nice looking collages of 5 to 6 different images, which finally look like a nice professionally-designed collage? For example, the poster of "Beyond Borders" movie posted by one of your visitors is a collage of different images. How do I make such a nice looking collage? Thankx in advance!!

Aniket... there are no stupid questions to Photoshop 911...

The "Photoshop Tips & Tricks" department of the Design Center just posted a quick and easy method of getting started in compositing.

Stop in on the April issue of DTG (already in progress) at Easy Montage That will get you going until the Photoshop team there finishes the full-scale "Layer Masking" tutorial.

[Note: Aniket saw our tutorial on "Creating a Whiteout with Photoshop" based on the movie poster and a question from another Photoshop Tips & Tricks reader.
